
Q: Who owns Surprise Valley Hot Springs?
Answer: The Rose family has owned this property for over 60 years. The Villas began to be developed in 1999. We have 18 Villas: 8 Standard, 6 Deluxe, one 1-bedroom Suite, and three 2-bedroom Suites.
Q: What time is check in? What time is check out?
Answer: Check in is between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Check out is at 11:00 am. If you arrive after office hours, your key will be taped to the front office door in an envelope with your name on it.
Q: Do the kitchens have utensils/pots/pans/dishes?
Answer: Yes, most items you would need. The rooms without full kitchens have a microwave, coffeepot, refrigerator, sink and basic dishes, glassware and cutlery.
Q: Are the tubs communal or private? Can you adjust the temperature of the tubs?
Answer: Each room has its own private tub - all are outside on private patios except the three, two-bedroom suites, which have indoor tubs. Yes, the temperature is fully adjustable.
Q: Can you drink the water from the tap?
Answer: Yes.
Q: Is it going to snow? Will the pass be closed?
Answer: If we could only predict the weather….! You can Google the weather in Cedarville - 5 to 10 day forecasts are available. Try: www.wunderground.com. Road conditions are of course, changeable, particularly in winter months. You can access road conditions on the CalTrans website.
Q: Can we bring our dog?
Answer: We will accept quiet, well behaved pets. Our pet policy states: Pets must be on leash at ALL times when outside, not left unattended in room, and must be quiet. Pet fee of $39 first day and $20 each day thereafter. Fee for 2nd pet will be $20 per day. Max - 2 pets. Pet fees cover the cost of additional room cleaning. Any damage (i.e. chewing or urinating) to the room or its contents will result in additional charges. Clean up of lawn and yard areas your pet uses will be your responsibility. Evidence of pets in a room without declaring them to the office will result in a charge of $50 per day per pet to your credit card.
Q: What kind of fish do you have in your ponds?
Answer: Ponds have been stocked with bass and bluegill; one of the ponds also has catfish. Fishing is catch and release only - poles and lures available for guest use from the office.
Q: Is there a grocery store in town?
Answer: Yes, Pages Market (next to the post office) and the Corner Store (southwest corner of
Rt. 1-Main St. and 299 in the brick building).
Q: Do you have food at Surprise Valley Hot Springs?
Answer: Vending machines with drinks and snacks only. In-room dinners can be arranged with Mazoli’s, a local caterer (530/279-2068). Mazoll's menu is available on our Dining page — meals must be ordered NOT LATER THAN 4:00 pm the day BEFORE you wish to have your meal delivered. Portions are generous and delicious!
Q: Do you provide driving directions?
Answer: Detailed driving directions and distances can be obtained from Google or MapQuest on the Internet. Limited driving directions are available on the SVHS website. Here are a few distances that may be of help.

Q: Can I get cell phone reception there?
Answer: Only if you have Verizon Wireless or US Cellular as your carrier.
Q: Should I make arrangements for a massage ahead of time?
Answer: It is recommended you schedule your massage when making your room reservation. The massage therapists may not be available for a day or time you were hoping for.
Q: What are the differences between the rooms?
Answer: The Deluxe Villas are twice as large as the Standard Villas. Most of the Deluxe Villas have a full kitchen and a living room area. The Suites feature satellite TV and indoor soaking tubs and furnish robes for guests.
Q: Do you have any rooms with 2 beds?
Answer: Only the two-bedroom Suites offer 2 or more beds. Some Deluxe Villas and the one-bedroom Suite have pull-out couches or futons as additional bed space. We also offer air-beds, however, there is no room for any air-bed in the Standard Villas. All rooms are based on double occupancy except for the two-bedroom Suites which are based on 4 guests. Any Villas over the occupancy limits will result in additional chargess.
